1. WHAT IS A CHURCH MEMBER?
It is more than just regular attendance of this Church. A church member is a person who has committed himself or herself to the Lord Jesus Christ and seeks to serve him through commitment, personally, spiritually and financially to the vision and life of His Church. A church member joins others to seek God’s will and direction for this Church and to communicate his love in building the Church and in reaching out to non-Christians.
2. WHO CAN BECOME A CHURCH MEMBER?
Every born-again Christian is eligible for membership at Wallington Baptist Church. If not already baptised, we strongly urge you to consider baptism. In addition, you need to be committed to helping build the vision and values, the people and leadership of our church.
3. WHY BECOME A CHURCH MEMBER?
It is clear in the early church that the believers were known and counted: Acts 2:41 – “Those who accepted His message were baptised, and about three thousand were added to their number that day” Acts 4:4 – “But many who heard the message believed, and the number of men grew to about five thousand”.
Church Members have a role to play in the decision-making process of the Church, especially in larger decisions: Acts 15:22 – “Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas, two men who were leaders among the brothers”.
Members are also kept informed of major issues in the life of the Church.
