On Sunday, 23rd April Teen Challenge London visited our Church. Michael and Alan shared with us how the ministry of Teen Challenge changed their lives and how it continues to change many lives in London through their many outreach projects and rehab services. It was such a blessed time together. At the end of the service we had a special offering for Teen Challenge London and we raised a fantastic £340.00. Thank you so much for your generosity. Angela, the Outreach Officer from Teen Challenge London sent a message to the church:

“Thank you so much for hosting the redeemed last Sunday Michael and Alan were truly blessed by such a warm welcome and response from your congregation. We are so encouraged by your support, and look forward to building upon the connections made through this presentation.

Moving forward, please feel free to contact us if you require any advice or support in reaching the lost in your community, or if you need to make a referral into rehab, we are your resource for your front line!”

International Meal

On Sunday, 30th April we celebrated the different countries represented at WBC. The church was dressed with many flags of the world and everyone was looking very colourful in their traditional outfits and colours of the country they represented. Barry Clist preached about “Being Ready for the Journey” which we are all called to according to Matthew 28:16-20. (Please see below how our inhouse poet put this so well in his own words –The Journey, by Chris Poole).

After the service everyone was invited to a’bring and share’ meal. It was a very tasty’Journey around the World’ on a plate. Some had the opportunity of going around the world more than once!

Thank you to everyone who organised, helped and contributed to the splendid shared lunch. It was truly a blessed time!

The Journey

When I go out walking I take my own knapsack,
And fill it with essentials to carry on my back.
A bottle of fresh water from a well-known spa,
Without regular drinking you’ll never get too far.
A map from ordnance survey, shows me where to go,
The direction I need to follow and things that I should know.
Some sandwiches for my dinner and a tasty treat,
I ensure that when I’m walking there’s goodies for me to eat.
A coat to keep me dry and a warm hat just in case,
Some factor 30 sun-cream to protect my delicate face.
A journey needs planning to reach its destination,
A commitment, a plan and faith as well as application.
God knows that our life’s journey isn’t always calm,
That difficulties and hard choices often come along.
He grants us living water to flow up from within,
His precious Holy Spirit to guide us away from sin.
The bible is our route map, with advice and common sense,
A fellowship to help us- His resources are immense.
Armour for our protection, much better than a mac.
Fellow Christians who will pray for us , we know they’ve got our back.
So step by step and onward, His love and strength our stay.
We can be confident in our Saviour, the life, the truth, the way.

Weekly Church activities during the month

Knit & Natter Group, meeting on Monday, 22nd of May between 2-4pm in the Lounge (Parkgate Road entrance). If you would like to join, please speak to Brenda.

Mens Cycling Group. Meets every Tuesday morning for a gentle ride to Abbey Mill’s. If you would like to join please contact Dave Usher, Ed Brown or Chris Poole.

Meeting at the Pub. Join some of the men at The Whispering Moon, Wetherspoons in Wallington at 6 pm, every Tuesday for an evening meal and a proper catch up!

Paddington’s Toddlers Group. Continues to run every Wednesday Morning, 9:30 to 11:15. If you would like to join please contact Maureen.

Leechcroft Road House Group. Meets every fortnight Wednesday in person or via zoom at 8 p.m. Dates for this month are: 3rd and 24th May. Please contact Ben Fabunmi for more information and details on how to access the meeting.

Online Prayer will be held on Thursday 11th and 25th May at 10:30 a.m. via zoom. Contact Milton Grant or Howard Cole for more information.

Craft Club will be held on Thursday 11th and 25th May between 7:30 to 9:00 pm.

Y-Prayers House Group meets every fortnight Thursday via zoom at 8 p.m. Contact Winnie Essel or Jan Stone for more information.

The next Members Meeting is on Wednesday 17th May, 8pm – Small Hall.

A ‘Magical’ Evening with Ladies Contact Club!

The Ladies Contact Club is back! Contact Club meets every first and third Thursday of the month from 7:30pm – 9:30pm in the Small Hall (entrance: Parkgate Road).

On May 18th, the Ladies Contact Club will have a special evening with a Magic Show by Norman Grinstead. This event is open to all with a small charge of £3.00 per person. If you would like to attend, please contact Maureen.

Church Big Clean

Spring is here and our church is in need of a good spring cleaning. Put on your marigolds, bring your buckets and your mops and join us on Saturday, 27th May for the Church Big Clean. Anyone can help – no task is too big or too small, from dusting the pulpit to cleaning the entrance hall…
